An avid fan of cars and motorsports, Shawn eats, breathes and live all things related to cars.
His love of cars started from a very young age, where he would play with his Tamiya toy model cars for hours without getting bored. From fixing them up following the instructions given, to making personal modifications to the toy model to allow the cars to run faster, Shawn's interest in car performance grew from there. His vast knowledge about cars and it's various components are self-taught through wide reading of many sources found in the Internet.
Shawn's first car, Honda Jazz GD1 (1.3 L Auto CVT i-DSI engine 2WD) was his upgrade from playing with toy model cars.
From the whole exhaust system to the handling of the car, Shawn made constant changes to the car to enable it to reach its peak.
Shawn's love for racing started when a group of track enthusiast from the Fit Jazz Forum brought him to his first track session at the Pasir Gudang Circuit in Johor Baru, Malaysia.
Through the race circuit, he was able to further perfect his car and his driving technique until the GD1 running on a i-DSI engine was able to clock a constant 2:08 minute per lap.
It was then, he knew that it was time to move on.
With his love for JDM ("Japanese domestic market") cars, it is of little wonder that his next car would be the FD2R
Commonly known as the 3rd generation Honda Civic Type R, the car is a stepping stone for many aspiring racing drivers. And for Shawn, it marks the true beginning of his journey as an aspiring racer.
In July 2011, Shawn hit the Sepang International Circuit ("SIC") for the first time participating in the Saturday Night Fever ("SNF") Challenge series Round 5. The SNF is a night race that covers only northern part of the SIC. Running on a stock K20 engine and given no prior knowledge of the track, the race left Shawn hungry for more.
Since then, Shawn had taken part in various other races in search of podium honour while trying to defeat his current personal best of :
- 1:51 at PG - clocked with stock K20A engine and used Hankook RS3 tyres
- 2:31 at SIC - clocked with Yokohama A050 tyres
