[Review] DYNO - Virgin Dyno Experience!

With the impending track day coming at the Sepang International Circuit, I wanted to obtain a dyno reading of my R to convince others who doubt my engine capacity.

Decided to go for my virgin dyno experience at <removed> through a friend's recommendation.

Having researched widely on the dyno process and outcome done by many, I went prepared with information of my R that the Tuner would require to input into the dyno-system. However, the Tuner explained that the system that he was using was automated and that no information input was required. I was amazed by the automation of the technology which I haven't heard of through my extensive research online.

As the dyno was done, the O2 Sensor placed at the exhaust flew out.

Starting of dyno when the O2 sensor was still intact.

From the Youtube videos I've seen on dyno process, the O2 sensor remained on the exhaust outlet throughout the entire process. I alerted the tuner and he said that it was normal and would not affect the readings on the dyno. I started to feel very skeptical of his work.

When the dyno ended, the tuner gave me a chart which he managed to capture readings before the O2 sensor flew out of the exhaust. I took a look at the chart and...

Though the chart peaked and dipped at the appropriate range of a stock K20A, the torque captured suggested that the R was comparable to a turbocharged car?

I guess I'd be heading for another dyno really soon.

<Removed> is located at <removed>, Singapore.

I'd like to clarify that the above has been written based on my experience with the workshop and the comparison made is based on my extensive online research of the dyno-process. I will be going for another dyno after the track session (on 14 July 2013) to verify that the dyno reading provided is skewed due to the failure to input data of the vehicle on the dynometer and the misplacement of the O2 sensor on the exhaust.

Update 2017: All names have been removed. Just sharing my experience and hoping to make more friends with the same hobby.
